An anonymous donor contributed half of the monies needed to build the Alumni Memorial Union, which contained twice the space of its predecessor, the Brooks Memorial Union. The east and west facades recall the sixteenth century Chiesa del Gesu (or Church of the Gesu) which is the founding church of the Jesuit order. Connecting the main union building to the Weasler Auditorium is a cloister-like covered walkway. In 2007 the Brooks Mosaic, which had been in storage since 2001 when Brooks Memorial Union was razed, was installed on the north wall of the second floor of the Alumni Memorial Union.
