Other Building Information	The construction of a $650,000 Business Administration Building on the site previously occupied by Canisius Hall was funded through a combination of donations and operating surpluses. Offices and many classrooms had been previously located in Marquette Hall (at that time known as the Science Building); the new building featured six floors in the 13th Street side, where faculty offices were located, and five floors along the Michigan Street side, where classrooms and a student lounge could be found. The modern glass and stone design stood in contrast to the collegiate Gothic tradition of Marquette’s earlier buildings. A renovation and expansion in 1983-1984 doubled the size of the space available to the College of Business Administration and added a number of features, including a computer laboratory, a large lecture hall, a behavioral science laboratory, and an executive classroom.
Named For	Named in 1984 for David A. Straz, Jr., a 1965 graduate of Marquette’s College of Business Administration, whose donation made a 1983-1984 renovation and expansion to the building possible. Straz quickly moved up the banking ladder after graduation, directing a series of success bank acquisitions, mergers and sales in southeastern Wisconsin and Florida. He was named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by the College of Business Administration in 1989, Alumnus of the Year in 1999, and served as a member of Marquette’s Board of Trustees from 1985-2007.
