Notes	Verso caption: January 1938. The great-grandfathers of these boys who play in the St. Francis Mission School band were warriors and nomad hunters of buffalo. They are playing in honor of Father Florentine Digmann, S.J., noted missionary to the Sioux, who came to St. Francis in 1886. He died in December, 1931, just two days before Christmas. Members of the St. Joseph Society (for men) and the St. Mary Society (for women), the two strongest societies for Catholic Indians, voted to have an annual Digmann Day, to honor their beloved missionary. This picture was taken on Sunday, October 3, 1937, in the St. Francis Mission cemetery. Brother Hartmann, S.J., is directing the band. Fr. D.'s grave is below the right arm of the cross.
